Athens businessman Gary Armour is nothing if not an entrepreneur. The owner of Armour Plumbing & Well Service, Rapid-Rooter Inc., Armour Industrial Services, Peach State Portables, Bulldog Johnny and an RV parking lot just added his own version of a fast-food restaurant to his menu of enterprises.
Armour opened Team Biscuits & Burgers on Oct. 13 on Danielsville Road in the former Floyd’s — or A.J.’s — Package Store. Team Biscuits & Burgers occupies a newly renovated red-and-black building just north of the Huddle House and the Athens Perimeter. As a University of Georgia Bulldogs fan, Armour saw the team colors as a way to show team spirit.
Emphasizing quality food and friendly service, Armour’s new restaurant sports a simple menu for breakfast and lunch. Customers can place to-go orders inside or at drive-through. They also can choose to dine-in either at a small inside counter or at a table on the covered porch. Altogether, the morning and afternoon menus list only 40 items, with each biscuit or burger assigned an additional moniker representing a position on a football team. For example, a sausage biscuit is the full back, and a salmon burger is a left tackle.
