Ol' Timey Christmas at the Curb Market

The Henderson County Curb Market will celebrate an Ol' Timey Christmas from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the market at the corner of Church Street and Second Avenue West.

Complimentary refreshments and carriage rides will be offered.

Shop for hand made gifts and an assortment of fresh greenery and wreaths, fresh bakery items, candy, cookies, pies, party sauces, condiments, jams and jellies, all by local artists. For information, call 828-692-8012.

Wood book signing at Heritage Museum

The Henderson County Heritage Museum will host a book signing by Rick Wood, author of "40 Seasons: The Life of a High School Basketball Coach," from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the museum gift shop.

Wood coached at Edneyville High School in 1987-89 and West Henderson High from 1989 until his retirement in 2006. He retired with 662 wins — at the time, the most by any active coach in North Carolina.

His players were known for their teamwork, hustle, and sportsmanship.
